Pet Food Bank donates over 30k meals in 6 months

Haverfordwest based pet food bank, Cariad Pet Food Bank, has donated 30.856 pet food meals to their beneficiaries in their first 6 months.

Run by Cariad Pet Therapy CIC, with funding from the WCVA, they were able to set up the pet food bank in December 2020.

Project Manager, Robert Thomas said "We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown towards the pet food bank with community donations, businesses taking our pet food donation bins and some ever so kind donations from pet food companies.

Harringtons have been so good to us and to our beneficiaries in West Wales, with a constant supply of dog and cat food, Lily's Kitchen have also been very generous.

We are also extremely grateful to our team of volunteers who pack up deliveries and deliver pet food parcels, as 90% of our donations are delivered. We deliver as far as Llanelli, from Haverfordwest."

The service, which is free to use, has received some positive feedback on the impact of their donations, such as,

"Cariad Pet Food Bank has given us tremendous support for our pets. My wife has mental health issues and without your support she would not be as well as she is, you have helped take the pressure off and I will be forever grateful. Thank you."

"Many thanks for the cat food parcel you sent me, when I opened it, I cried. Thank you so much."

"Thank you and your team so much for the delivery and a massive thank you for the toy balls. My babies will love them, I am ever so grateful for everything you all do and not just for me. You and your team are such amazing people who help so much."

"Cariad Pet Food Bank have been an amazing lifeline to me during an unforeseen financially challenging time. Not only have they offered to buy feed and hay for my ageing, but retired pony, to make sure his dietary requirements are met, they personally arranged to meet me at the feed store to buy supplies and instantly delivered it all to the stables. This is an absolutely wonderful cause, supporting people who are temporarily financially challenged with a much-needed breathing space to keep their pets properly fed whilst sorting out their financial situations. A huge, massive thank you to Rob and his wonderful team of volunteers who ensure our pets are completely unaware of any change in circumstances and continue to live their lives happy and well fed."
