The National Lottery Community Fund helps to roll out Robot Companion Therapy Pets in Wales.

After successfully trialling several robot companion therapy pets throughout Wales we felt their impact, in light of COVID-19 and restricted visits in care settings, they were a worthy project. To enable us to offer this service we applied to The National Lottery Community Fund in Wales for funding and were awarded funding in October 2020 - 6 months after we first introduced the idea by producing a video of them under the name 'Cariad Buddy' see here on our YouTube channel.

You can view some of the reviews on our new website run by, and for Cariad Pet Therapy:

Here is a heart warming video of the impact of the cats, this content is echoed by the feedback we have received.

How to apply for one?

If you feel that you have a relative, someone you care for or someone who is lonely in the community who you think would benefit from the effects these pets bring please get in touch by emailing

They are especially beneficial for people living with dementia, the elderly, the vulnerable, people with learning disabilities and those lonely or socially isolated. Also ideal for those who used to have pets but cannot have one anymore.

  • Beneficiaries must reside within Wales.

  • In your application you must say why you think this will be of benefit to the person(s).

  • You also must be willing to acknowledge the funding body and Cariad Pet Therapy in any social media mentions.

  • If the recipient is in a care home or has a professional, e.g. Occupational Therapist, contact must be made through official channels, email / phone number / address / website.

  • Pembrokeshire based recipients  - we may be able to deliver.

We have a new website detailing the robot companion therapy pets at where we have also become official UK sellers of the pets, with all proceeds going to Cariad Pet Therapy.
