Did you know we have donated 318,668 pet food meals (47.8 tonnes!) since January 2021?

How to get help

The pet food bank is to be used when you are in an emergency situation where you have no immediate finances or family support to buy pet food, and without the support of the pet food bank your pets will go without food.

We are for short term support only, not a long term solution.

Am I eligible for pet food support?

  • You would go without food yourself or be unable to heat your home if you did not have support from the pet food bank.

  • You have had a sudden change or a delay in your benefits.

  • You have suddenly become homeless.

  • You are in a controlling relationship, or you are fleeing domestic abuse.

  • You have had an unexpected vet or household bill and you are on a low income.

  • A professional has identified you are in need, and they make a referral on your behalf.

Please note:

  • We do not provide pet food support to litters of puppies as we do not want to contribute to irresponsible breeding.

  • You are not automatically eligible for support by being disabled or in receipt of benefits.

  • We are for short term support only, not a long term solution.

  • We are not there primarily to support additional pets coming into your household.

  • Please do not overly prescribe what you want as we can only give what we have had donated. We will always try and match dietary needs where possible.

  • We are not a free pet food shop; we are there for those who have an identifiable need.

  • When things are improved for you, please consider donating back to the pet food bank.

Feedback from those that use the service:

Pet Food Bank by Cariad Pet Therapy has given us tremendous support for our pets. My wife has mental health issues and without your support she would not be as well as she is, you have helped take the pressure off and I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

Without the support from the Pet Food Bank by Cariad Pet Therapy I may have had to give up my dogs, which I couldn’t imagine, especially as one of them is a rescue dog.

The volunteers bring a great energy and warmth, even just having a chat with the volunteers is great. You can really tell the team love their pets too. At first, I was embarrassed at coming and you are such a good team you are great at mitigating that which is really nice.

Pet Food Bank by Cariad Pet Therapy have been an amazing lifeline to me during an unforeseen financially challenging time.

If I could not look after my dog it would bring me down as it’s only me and my dog. Without my dog I wouldn’t be here is the truth. My consultant said it’s the best thing I have ever done. Being able to give my dog 2 meals a day and especially the treats in wonderful! It really makes me smile.

The pet food you offer is quality. Everyone including the vets have said his coat and the way he looks is amazing. I tell them where his food comes from, and they can’t believe it. It makes him happy. He is starting to calm down a bit now and I have worked out exactly which kibble he loves. If he is happy, I am happy.

My pets are getting good, quality food and even nice treats which is a luxury for them, they wouldn’t get that without you. I always get such a consistent good service from you too. Without you they would have cheaper food, less food and therefore a worse lifestyle. No treats and less quality of food they would experience. This potentially saves me about £40 a month which is about half of my council tax bill so financially it’s such a help.

It really does help me, especially with the cost of living. Just feeding my kids, it makes it impossible to feed my dogs too, my dogs would be suffering and neglected. I can just about cover and the bills but without the Pet Food Bank by Cariad Pet Therapy I would be going without for myself. I could never let them starve so it would be affecting my health that I would be starving and mentally worrying me if I can’t cover everything.

This is a wonderful cause, supporting people who are temporarily financially challenged with a much-needed breathing space to keep their pets properly fed whilst sorting out their financial situations.

A huge, massive thank you to the wonderful team of volunteers who ensure our pets are completely unaware of any change in circumstances and continue to live their lives happy and well fed.

Pet Food Bank by Cariad Pet Therapy has really helped me to keep my family together during this difficult time. Our pets are our lifeline, and I really could not imagine having to give them up. Knowing there is help and support for them as well as us has taken away a huge stress.

It’s been 2 months now where I hit rock bottom and didn’t know which way to turn but considering all I’m very glad that my pets never had to suffer. It wouldn’t have been right me eating but not being able to feed my pets, I can’t praise this organisation enough. A bad situation can happen to anyone but it’s comforting to know that your pets are not left behind.

Thank you for the healthy food you managed to source for our animals. I am so grateful; they are tucking in happily!

Many thanks for the cat food parcel you sent me, when I opened it, I cried.

I cannot believe how much your support has changed people’s lives.  They tell me each week about how grateful they are and how they would not eat so their dogs/cats can.  It was an unseen suffering.

I am literally in tears here. You don't realise the emotional toll it takes on you until you realise that there is help available. I am so low with it and your offer of help is the best news this year.

We will try to match you pet food requirements to the needs of your pets where possible, but we cannot guarantee meeting specific dietary requirements such as grain free or fish only.  We can only offer what we have had donated as we are donation based.  We tend to support dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets as a guide.  Sometimes we have fish, bird, and chicken food.
