Why We're Here
We know pets are family. They bring comfort, companionship, routine, and joy — especially when life feels overwhelming. When resources are stretched thin, it can be hard to balance your own needs and your pet’s needs.
Our goal is simple: to help bridge the gap so you don’t have to choose.
We’re here to help — no judgment, no pressure, no stigma.
Our service has been running for 5 years and has donated over 400,000 pet food meals to the local community in Pembrokeshire.
Self-Serve Pet Food Support
Our pet food support is designed as a self-serve space, where you are free to choose the items, your pets need most. We believe that pet owners know their animals best, and by allowing you to select your own supplies, we support your dignity, independence, and expertise as a caregiver.
This model is built on trust, respect, and community.
Rather than being handed a pre-packed bag, you can browse the shelves and pick the food, treats, or supplies that are right for your pet’s health, preferences, and routine.
We trust our community to take only what they need so that all families can be supported.
Our self-serve approach creates a welcoming atmosphere of solidarity, where everyone is valued and treated with compassion. It reinforces that we’re all here to help each other—and that needing support is not something to hide. Here, you are part of a shared effort to ensure pets stay healthy, loved, and with the people who care for them.
How Our Service Works

2. Rob will respond to your request and if eligible an appointment will be made for you to self-serve your pet food.
3. Ask for Extras If You Need Them
Depending on donations, we sometimes have:
- Treats
- Litter
- Leashes and collars
- Toys
- Bowls or grooming items
4. Visit Again When You Need To
Our service is here to help you through hard times.

Without the support from the Emergency Pet Food Support by Cariad Pet Therapy I may have had to give up my dogs, which I couldn’t imagine, especially as one of them is a rescue dog.

If I could not look after my dog it would bring me down as it’s only me and my dog. Without my dog I wouldn’t be here is the truth. My consultant said it’s the best thing I have ever done. Being able to give my dog 2 meals a day and especially the treats in wonderful! It really makes me smile.
The pet food you offer is quality. Everyone including the vets have said his coat and the way he looks is amazing. I tell them where his food comes from, and they can’t believe it. It makes him happy. He is starting to calm down a bit now and I have worked out exactly which kibble he loves. If he is happy, I am happy.
My pets are getting good, quality food and even nice treats which is a luxury for them, they wouldn’t get that without you. I always get such a consistent good service from you too. Without you they would have cheaper food, less food and therefore a worse lifestyle. No treats and less quality of food they would experience. This potentially saves me about £40 a month which is about half of my council tax bill so financially it’s such a help.
It really does help me, especially with the cost of living. Just feeding my kids, it makes it impossible to feed my dogs too, my dogs would be suffering and neglected. I can just about cover and the bills but without the Emergency Pet Food Support by Cariad Pet Therapy I would be going without for myself. I could never let them starve so it would be affecting my health that I would be starving and mentally worrying me if I can’t cover everything.
This is a wonderful cause, supporting people who are temporarily financially challenged with a much-needed breathing space to keep their pets properly fed whilst sorting out their financial situations.
A huge, massive thank you to the wonderful team of volunteers who ensure our pets are completely unaware of any change in circumstances and continue to live their lives happy and well fed.
Emergency Pet Food Support by Cariad Pet Therapy has really helped me to keep my family together during this difficult time. Our pets are our lifeline, and I really could not imagine having to give them up. Knowing there is help and support for them as well as us has taken away a huge stress.
It’s been 2 months now where I hit rock bottom and didn’t know which way to turn but considering all I’m very glad that my pets never had to suffer. It wouldn’t have been right me eating but not being able to feed my pets, I can’t praise this organisation enough. A bad situation can happen to anyone but it’s comforting to know that your pets are not left behind.
